Precedent: Baymax

The Disney movie “Big Hero 6” of 2014 has a character that, I recently discovered, has probably influenced my thesis.

Description of the character:

“Baymax cares. That’s what he was designed to do. The adorable, plus-sized inflatable robot’s job title is technically Healthcare Companion: With a simple scan, Baymax can detect vital stats, and, given a patient’s level of pain, can treat nearly any ailment. Conceived and built by Tadashi Hamada, Baymax just might revolutionize the healthcare industry.”

This character is like a result of Asma Hasan and I collaborating (since Asma is into future technology and stuff), which makes me think of what could actually happen if I collaborated with someone from class.


Moment of Inspiration:

The funny thing is that, on my birthday, a friend got me a huge Baymax bean bag. And through that bean bag was when I noticed that when people are unwell, they seek comfort. For some people, like me, that comfort can come from a soft bean bag or just a giant hoodie. This is when I thought of making blankets for my “Graphic Objects” course. Read more!
